St Patrick's Day Fun
It was wonderful to see all the children arriving to school with their St Patrick's Day regalia. There were plenty of fancy hats, headbands, glasses and wigs.
We were also very privileged to have the Gaelic Dancers visiting our school. They entertained the whole school in the hall with their fantastic dancing. Thank you to Mrs Nystad for organising this.

Walk & Wheel Week
Thank you to all the families who participated in Walk & Wheel Week. We have some very creatively decorated scooters and bikes on Wednesday and some fantastically funky feet on Friday. The children also enjoyed Pedalmania who came to our school last Tuesday with heaps of wacky bikes for the children to ride. Thanks to Mr Wallis and the PAL’s who organised all of these events. There are lots more fabulous photos on our school Facebook page.

Past Pupils' Success
We are always delighted to hear of any of our past pupils' achievements and here are a few that we are extremely proud of:
Amber Sarē won the Impromptu Speech section of the Bishop Lyons Competition held in Greymouth over the weekend.
Neave Hallissey is the 2022 recipient of the Melda Townsley Award for Speech & Drama Performance & Literature (Excellence in the Use of Language & Expression within Speech & Drama).
Pera and Brynne Gordon were well known for their sporting achievements while at OLA and we are delighted to hear that they are continuing with their sporting endeavours at high school. They attended the NZ Track & Field Nationals in Wellington, where they achieved the following finishes:
Pera - 2nd in U16 Pole Vault & 11th in U16 400m
Brynne - 5th in U18 800m & 5th in U18 1500m

Working Bee
Come and help us make our environment more attractive for our tamariki.
We would love some help to paint the fence around the field and get our vegie gardens, fruit trees and hen area tidied up ready for another year of growing by our Garden Club.
Saturday 18th March, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – please give any time that you can - 30 mins or a few hours. All help is gratefully accepted.
· If helping with the fence, please bring a large paintbrush. If you bring a paint sprayer, please ensure that the paint only goes on the fence and not our neighbours property – houses, cars etc.
· If you are helping with the garden, please bring either weeding/digging tools for pruning and if anyone knows how to repair the compost bins that would be amazing!
The PTA will be putting on a sausage barbecue towards the end.

Lost Property
We have a lot of people asking about lost school items. To ensure a prompt return of the lost item it is important that you NAME EVERYTHING that your child brings to school - clothing, hats, lunchboxes, drink bottles, school bag, etc. Any lost items will then be returned to your child’s classroom. Any unnamed lost items are kept in the school office.
